So we decided to test the boys out on camping this year, to the Lehi Recreation Park. We love camping. But we haven't ever been since we had kids and it's been far too long. We knew we wanted to get the boys to love it, but don't get me wrong, we were nervous and had low expectations for how well our little 8 month Sterling would do. Much to our surprise and pleasure both boys did so well!! They actually slept the same if not slightly better than they do at home! (fist pump!) I attribute it to being sufficiently bundled up and extremely exhausted from the day. The campground was beautiful. I could get used to California camping. The other 4 families that came were so much fun and all the kids got along wonderfully. Whatever one of us forgot, the other had. Everything really went so smoothly.
There was a little frog and newt pond right by the campsite where the kids spent the majority of their time. We heard those tiny yet very loud frogs all.night.long. Some good white noise for the babies though!
There also was an adorable little stage equipped with microphones. Let's just say Anderson learned to be a darn good performer with his little girlfriends
There was also a lot of brother hugs and mommy kisses going around this weekend. Anderson is normally very affectionate, but I think camping outdoors brought out his loving side even more.

That hunk made this trip so easy! He was so prepared with all of our necessities. Made us delicious foil dinners and a wonderful breakfast, set up and took down our lovely 10 man tent (so worth it! The space was heavenly), and was pretty darn handy to have around when it came to being innovative in the mountains (talk about water jug lantern). I adore him.
One family brought a projector and kid movies for the littles to enjoy while the adults got some quiet time around the fire. Best idea ever.
And this is how our little nugget slept all night. Completely bundled in two layers of fleece to where his arms would get stuck straight out when he tried to roll over. If it works it works!
Pretty sure Anderson learned to love the woods this trip. There was a lot of random tree hugging going on.
And you can't forget David bringing his remote controlled helicopter. Best dad award!
I can't get over how flipping cute and big he looks sitting in that chair. He was such a good boy this trip and I am so grateful!
One thing to remember for next time: Bring glow sticks for the kids to wear!! It gets dang dark out there and they love to wander around. Until next time!!
