Let me just explain how Lake Powell is seen in the eyes of my family. Lake Powell to us is like peanut butter to jelly, a bike to a Tour de France competitor, the muse to an artist, the yin to yang. We absolutely love it. So when my parents mentioned they were going to travel to Powell over Memorial weekend to clean up the boat for the season David and I jumped on that band wagon. Soon to find out, however, that the parents had to bail! We were very distraught to say the least, we still wanted to go to "help the parents out" of course, but we were not confident in our abilities alone to handle the possible complications that always come with Powell. And husband's single brother refused to go with just us two (probably wise). So about 4 days before the trip was to commence, David phoned his other brother, asked the question, got the happy answer, and we were good to go: us, brother in law, and older brother in law and his wife and two kids! I was giddy.
Let me explain though, this trip was not to be the usual LP getaway. We were not allowed to take the houseboat out of the slip, we did not have tubes or wakeboards, the weather was supposed to be no higher than 75 degrees, and it was only for 2.5 days. Thankfully our additional party goers had never been to Powell so they had nothing to compare it to. Perfect.
Minus the dozens of drunk partiers (old and young), blaring music, and drinking/hopelessly flirting 24/7, and the 40 mph wind ALL day Saturday, the trip was a success. Getting away from Provo is always a bonus and what could be better than hanging out in a speed boat in the beautiful Powell of Lake? It worked out great too because each of us had a bed! Sleeping in an
air conditioned boat was husband's one criteria for this trip. It was beautiful!

But I do have to admit, I am quite exciting to go back with my family in July and not have to pack food or be the "superior Lake Poweller" as I prefer to put it. I am very thankful for the parents thats for sure! But I am so glad we had three capable men on board in case anything went wrong. My husband definitely proved himself this weekend :) Thanks to Eric and Sara for allowing us and Brent to take a quick vaca and making it so much fun!
